Wide range of benefits for modest costs
Scout House’s annual membership fee is just $40. To help support travel costs, members who travel by bus to performance sites pay $15 for trips in Canada and $25 for trips across the border to the United States. Members also pay their own food and accommodation costs on trips.
The Band’s summer performance schedule typically includes two or three trips of one or two nights duration. The Cadet’s performance schedule usually does not involve overnight trips.
Band members purchase their own Aussie uniform hat and storage box and supply their own black belt, socks and shoes. Cadet members only need to supply their own black socks & shoes, all other uniform components are provided.
Members may also wish to purchase such items as a music stand, Scout House street wear jackets and T shirts. Occasionally, Scout House issues free shirts to mark special occasions such as last year’s 75th anniversary season.
Scout House supplies instruments and cases for members, along with repairs and maintenance required through normal use. Sheet music is also provided.
There is no cost to members for most uniform elements, including tunic, pants, white leather gauntlets, silver collar pins and lanyard, silver hatpin and plume.
Band Members are also issued a warm winter parade jacket.
